Urban Development Goers-Area, Friedrichsdorf

Competition Honarable Mention, 2024

Realisation Competition, 2024

Honorary Mention

The Goers site is located in the centre of Friedrichsdorf between the Hugenottenstraße and Landgrafenplatz retail locations and the Taunus-Carré shopping centre. The approx. 1.3 ha block area is developed on three sides. A large part of the inner area is sealed and currently used as a car park.

As part of this urban development realisation competition, a design for urban redensification was developed that strengthens Friedrichsdorf's city centre through a forward-looking development of the Goers site. In line with the results of the workshop with citizens, the plans envisage initially retaining part of the car park and also suggest how the neighbourhood can continue to grow in the long term. An attractive, green connecting axis was created between the two retail locations and a sustainable development and utilisation structure was developed for the block area. In addition to public use of the ground floor zones on the large, unsealed square, this includes various housing options (townhouses, rental flats with one to four rooms plus housing for elderly people) and a small cultural centre at the entrance to the neighbourhood.
